sears-external (Small).JPG (29825 bytes) Seven men have been indicted in connection with an alleged terrorist attack  on Chicago's Sears Tower and other targets. The Sears Tower at 108 storeys is the tallest building in the United States. U.S. law enforcement officials the arrests of the seven in Miami June 22  foiled a plot that was in its early stages. 
Regehr (Small).JPG (16642 bytes) Ernie Regehr, cofounder of Project Ploughshares, is the 2006 winner of the World Peace Award. The annual award, presented each year since 1972 has paid tribute to champions of world peace as Lester Pearson, Stephen Lewis, Louise Arbour, Lloyd Axworthy and Roméo DallaireProject Ploughshares is the global peace advocacy agency of the Canadian Council of Churches.
Dalai (Small).jpg (33130 bytes) The Dalai Lama -- the Tibetan spiritual leader --has been given honorary Canadian citizenship. Members of Parliament  unanimously agreed June 22 to a Conservative motion to grant the honour to the Dalai Lama, who will be visiting Vancouver inb September. It's the third time Parliament has approved such a measure.
