Israel's military
actions against Hezbollah were forced upon it after years of bombardments, kidnappings and
cross-border shootings, says Alan Baker, the Israeli Ambassador to Canada. In an article
published in the Toronto Star July 26, Baker also says it was no surprise that when
Hezbollah terrorists kidnapped three Israeli soldiers on the Israel-Lebanese border in
October 2000 they were disguised as UN peacekeepers and were driving a vehicle with a UN
emblem. "Curiously enough, the real UN peacekeepers who saw the kidnapping and even
videotaped it, merely sat by and let it happen," he added. |
