Zimbabwean
Archbishop Pius Ncube, pictured in Ottawa during a speaking tour last year, is alleged to
have had an affair with a married woman over the past two years. His lawyer says the claim
is part of a well-orchestrated campaign to discredit him. Reuters reported July 17 that
the government-owned Herald and Chronicle newspapers published several photos showing a
man" identified by newspapers as Ncube removing his clothes and lying in bed with a
woman." The two newspapers said the photos were from a security camera hidden in
Ncube's bedroom in Bulawayo by a private investigator hired by the husband of the woman
alleged to have had the affair with the archbishop. Ncube is an ardent opponent of
Zimbabwe's president, Robert Mugabe.

The
Niagara Parks Commission voted July 20 to consider a proposal by Jay Cochrane, a
world renown tightrope walker, to walk across Niagara Falls on a high wire. Cochrane wants
to walk from Goat Island (left), on the American side of the Niagara, to the top of the
Skylon Tower on the Canadian side, where this photo was taken July 13. He had been denied
permission in 1997 to try the same feat but now has the support of Niagara Falls City
