aguilera-th.jpg (30215 bytes) Bishop-elect Nerva Cot Aguilera of Cuba, soon to become the first female Anglican bishop in Latin America, the Caribbean and Cuba, was among the guests at the North American Deans' Conference at Christ Church Cathedral  in Ottawa April 19-23. The Rev. Canon Aguilera -- one of two people appointed Feb. 4 as suffragan (assistant) bishop for the Cuban Anglican Church, -- was in the nation's capital accompanying her husband,  the Very Rev. Juan Ramon de la Paz Cerezo, who is Dean of Holy Trinity Cathedral in Havana. She is to be consecrated June 10.

Bishop-elect Nerva Cot Aguilera of Cuba, soon to become the first female Anglican bishop in Latin America, the Caribbean and Cuba, accompanied her husband, the Very Rev. Juan Ramon de la Paz Cerezo, who is Dean of Holy Trinity Cathedral in Havana, to the North American Deans' Conference at Christ Church Cathedral  in Ottawa April 19-23. Their daughter,  the Rev. Marianela de la Paz Cot, was ordained this year. The Rev. Canon Aguilera  was one of two people appointed Feb. 4 as suffragan (assistant) bishop for the Cuban Anglican Church. She is to be consecrated June 10.

stronach-th.jpg (41956 bytes) Liberal MP Belinda Stronach will be giving her severance payoff to charity when she leaves federal politics to rejoin Magna International Inc. The Ottawa Citizen also noted that Stronach -- who is a millionaire -- has donated her salary to charitable causes since she was elected to the House of Commons in 2004.
