Paul Martin said Dec. 29 that thousands of Canadians have been touched personally by the
devastating tsunami in Southeast Asia. "The scope of the devastation will demand that
we continue to work together to respond to the immediate and long term rescue,
humanitarian and reconstruction needs," he added. |

Director of International Programs for the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace, said Dec.
29 that churches and schools in the countries hit by the tsunami tragedy have opened their doors to the victims.
"And our people on the ground are laying the groundwork for a reconstruction effort
that will go on for months and years to come," he added. The worldwide Catholic aid
agency Caritas Internationalis, which includes the CCODP, is sending $1.6 million to help
the disaster victims.
